If you wish to visit the Amalfi Coast this summer, but it’s your first trip to Italy and you have some questions about security in our country, let us reassure you: Italy is a very safe land, for Italians as well as for the tourists. Forget Gomorra or The Godfather, you’re going to visit one of the most important states of the world, in the economic as historical sense.
There are obviously some rules to observe in order not to have unpleasant accidents, but they are the same that a tourist would adopt in Greece, Norway or the USA. Certainly, there are also criminals, just as everywhere, and the tourist must follow these suggestions:
- do not leave valuables in unsupervised areas.
- in case of crowded places keep the wallet in the front pocket
- On the bus as in a bar, don’t leave your bag open, if possible
- in the evening as during the night, avoid poorly lit alleys and places.
We want to add another advice that has nothing to do with this kind of safety: if possible, don’t rent a car. The streets are very narrow and in summer many tourists arrive here to admire the wonders of the Amalfi Coast: we suggest trusting those who know the area very well! If you want to discover every secret and iconic spot along the Amalfi Coast, book a boat tour from Sorrento!
Or ... book a Vespa! You will enjoy the fantastic landscapes while experiencing an incredible freedom. Well if you’re arrived here by car, we can help you with a parking service that will also guarantee you a shuttle service to and from your hotel.
Other suggestions to live a legendary experience
Our region is absolutely beautiful and that’s why you will find many tourists every time of year. But as July and August in particular see hordes of visitors, May, June, and September draw lower numbers and, in our opinion, April and October are the best months to visit the Amalfi Coast. If you’re wondering about the weather in Autumn, we can only say that it’s the best time according to the locals (as we are) to swim in the sea.
You will find various restaurants serving up traditional Italian food, but if you want to taste and experience the top eateries and best dining you will have to reserve your table as soon as possible. For example, if you want to dine at Michelin-starred eateries like La Sponda in Positano, consider to book everything earlier.
Driving cliffside allows for some magnificent views, but one of the best ways to take in those scenic towns and rocky coastlines is from the sea. So there’s only one thing to do: book now your exclusive and evocating boat tour with us!
