Have you ever heard about Ischia? You know Capri for sure, thanks for its VIPs ambassadors (from Lebron James to the beloved Kobe Bryant), but what about Ischia?
Ischia is the largest island off the Gulf of Naples, known from the ancient past for its lush and evocative nature (it’s called the “Green island”) and for its 103 thermal springs.
Follow us and discover your next dream spot, are you ready to add it on your bucket list?
The Greeks arrived on Ischia about 3000 years ago, while the Romans created their thermal baths in the grottos (pumping naturally hot water into them). After the first, just like the second, World War, veterans came here to get a rejuvenating relaxation time.
Today the thermal spas are the most famous attraction of the island. The warm waters come from the Island’s volcanic springs, which are defined as therapeutic for bones, respiratory system and skin.
There are several natural spots you can enjoy on the island for free, and the most celebrated is Sorgeto. Sorgeto is located on the Southern coast, near the Bay of Sant’Angelo, it’s a small breathtaking bay, where you can enjoy several natural pools among the coastal rocks, with temperatures between 30 and 37 degrees.
It can seem strange, but you can bathe here even during the winter months.
Another spot you should visit is called Le Fumarole. Here the sand on the beach can be very hot, so that we suggest to reach this location in the evening. You can have dinner here, cooking in foil your favorite food under the sands (“al cartoccio”). Some tourists also sleep here, under the stars, experiencing a soft and fascinating contact with the hot sands.
The Nitrodi spring is may be the most famous for the locals, but if you want to live the most relaxing vacation, you have to book your stay at Poseidon or Negombo, the two most important “Parco Termale” (which stays for a large complex which includes thermal hot springs, pool and spa treatments) of Ischia.
Poseidon (Gardens) is situated within the village Forio, on the enthralling bay of Citara. It represents the largest thermal park on the island (it extends over 60000 mq), with its 22 pools, while Negombo, in the village of Lacco Ameno, offers a Kneipp itinerary, in a series of hot and cold water pools, the perfect treatment to stimulate circulation.
If you’re starting to plan and dream vacation on Ischia, you will find a large number of hotels and resort which can offer excellent wellness stays, while if you want to make your journey unparalleled, you should book a trip around the island.
We can take you to the island for a tour while you’re living your vacation around the Amalfi Coast, or on Ischia itself. It’s always a good idea to watch and experience an island by the sea!
