About 8 hours tour (or more) mixing history, culture and relax, collecting the most famous places of the entire region: the ruins of the Roman city of Pompeii and one of the most charming island in the whole Italy. Get the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Roman life (as you were living exactly in the first century) and then dive in the pristine clear water of Capri. It’s not a case this tour is recommended by Telegraph Travel!
Your experience will start from your hotel in Sorrento (a lovely base for your holiday!), where our private driver will pick up you to take you to the port. If your hotel is in the nearby area we will reach your accommodation without any problem: we can tailor and design the tour following your wishes and needs. So, please, make sure to express all your desires, our goal is to make your wish come true, making your vacation simply unforgettable.
Once on board the captain will sail towards Castellammare di Stabia, the port next to the Pompeii excavations. During this short navigation you will admire Sorrento and the whole peninsula from the sea, from a very exclusive and evocating point of view. You won’t be surprised to discover that the Romans were aware of Sorrento’s attributes yet (can you see the several ruins of their ancient villas?) just like the European aristocracy considered this place an important part of the Grand Tour.
The chauffeur will accompany you to Pompeii, where you will spend about 3 hours discovering the Roman ruins of the 1st century.
On a fateful day in 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius erupted destroying the life in Pompeii in a fury of heat and ash. The ash, however, protected the city from the erosion of wind and rain, preserving the remains in perfect condition. You will enjoy a very extensive display of remarkably preserved mosaics, murals, figures, fine pottery and even food!
If you wish we can book an english speaking guide to get a deep immersion in this archeological site, but if you want to visit the landmark on your own we can suggest to explore the Amphitheater, the Big and the Small Theater, the thermal areas and the spas, the Forum, the Temples of Isis, Jupiter and Apollo, the Macellum, the Lupanare and the House of the Fauno.
After this exciting adventure you will sail towards Capri, getting the occasion to appreciate from the boat the ruins of another Roman villa, at the edge of the coast: Villa Polio, or Regina Giovanna.
It’s the ideal place to get a dive, especially in the hottest days of summer, while if you want to meet many species of fishes, starfishes and corals you can snorkeling around the marine park of Punta Campanella (if you are lucky you will be able to spot some dolphins!).
Time for the boat tour of Capri island! When you will see the celebrated Faraglioni rocks, symbol of the island, you will be sure you’re arrived! Take a look around: it’s the best setting for honeymooners or for a romantic proposal, isn’t it?!
We will visit the numerous fascinating caves and creeks, from the Green to the Blue Grotto, also admiring the outstanding lighthouse of Punta Carena, known for having hosted the filming of the movie “La grande bellezza - the great beauty” directed by Paolo Sorrentino. Please note: if you want to visit the Blue Grotto you will have to use the small boats provided by a local company, the one authorized to access to the grotto. The entrance fee of eur 14,00 can be paid directly on the spot.
If you want you can get some free time to visit the island, getting the “funicolare” and starting with the worldwide renowned “piazzetta”, also nicknamed “The Theater of the world”. Get a coffe break at Gran Caffè Vuotto and get a fabulous sight from the “belvedere”, from the Gardens of Augustus.
